last year, during the december school holidays, my family and i went on a trip to taiwan. i was over the moon and could hardly wait for the day to arrive. we woke up at 5 in the morning. i was still half asleep as we hired a taxi to drive us to the airport. upon reaching the airport, i was surprised to see so many people checking in so early in the moring! after checking in, we went to grab a bite before boarding the plane. the entire flight took about four hours. i would have been bored to death if not for the movies that were available for us to watch while on the plane.
finally, we arrived at our destination. i was shocked to see that taiwan was totally different from singapore! the airport wasn't that great, the buildings there were old and run-down, and there were lots of mountains, which i found it pretty irritating. in order to get from one city to another, the coach bus had to travel by the mountain roads. not only are they time counsuming, the roads are bumpy, which makes me feel giddy and nauseous. the temperature there was around 19 to 23 degrees, slighter colder than singapore.
the next day, our tour guide brought us to many main tourist attractions, such as the national palace museum, where we went to have a look at the exquistive carvings of jade, beautiful paintings and majestic statues. we went to the relaxing hot springs, and also went to taipei101, which is a shopping centre. it is one of the tallest buildings in the world, with 101 floors! we than went to yehliu. there are lots of natural rock formations, an amazing array of artistic shapes created by erosion and other natural forces.the wind there is very strong, and the temperature can go as low as 17 degrees. we took a few photos, before leaving for shilin, one of the largest night markets in taiwan. when we reached our destination, there were crowds of people jostling about. there were lots of stalls selling a variety of things, ranging from clothes to digital devices. we also tried out some of the local delicacies, and we came back to the hotel with our hands full with bags of stuff that we bought. we also watched a performance by the hakka tribe. it was an extraordinary performance, they invited us to dance with them.it was hillarious! after that, we departed for the hotel.
we were quite unwilling when we had to leave taiwan on the 6th day of our trip. i had enjoyed myself throughly and wish i will have the opportunity to visit taiwan again.

English Assignment two
for some reason, i always dislike fridays, and there are a few reasons. fisrtly, it is because of all the boring lessons all in a row, physics, english etc... of course, there are exceptional ones, such as PE, which is one of my favourite, and i also find chinese lessons enjoyable, due to the little jokes made in class. if not, i would have slept throughout the lesson.
secondly, i have to attend my cca trainings after school. i find it quite boring and tiring, marching under the sweltering sun and doing PT every training. the commands are quite difficult to remember, and sometimes they got mixed up. the seniors can be quite strict at times too. however, trainings can sometimes be fun. for example, the seniors would plan some recreational activities for us, which turns out to be quite fun at times.

English Assignment One
Last year, my primary school classmates and teachers organized a class gathering for us. they had booked a chalet at east coast park. when i heard this piece of news, i was overjoyed and looked forward to it. By the time i arrived, everyone was already there. i was greeted by screams and shouts from everyone. i couldn't help but to grin. it was so good to see them again, after so long. we chatted with each other, as we had a lot to catch up on. than, we were bored and decided to have some fun! we rented some bicycles and went cycling. we had a whale of good time cycling together. unfortunately, while i was cycling, the gear of my bicycle came off! i couldn't believe my luck! of all people, why did this had to happen to me? in the end, i had no choice but to carry it back to the shop. luckily, the shop wasn't too far, it took me only about 5 minutes. afterwards, we had a barbacue party. at first, we couldn't get the fire going. luckily, under our teacher's guidance, we can start barbecuing at last. we roasted our own chicken wings etc... after filling our stomachs, it was time to say goodbye. most of my classmates were staying overnight, but i could not as i had my red cross camp the next day. what a pity! i will definitely be looking forward to the next class gathering.
